Steve Spotswoode

My earliest memory of quo was, at the tender age of 5, being scared out of my wits by the Alan Lancaster puppet on the ‘Rockin’ all over the world’ video!! In 1983, I was really hooked after hearing a blast of classic Parfitt rhythm guitar on a Xmas TV show. Throughout my school years, a mate and I spent many many hours playing guitar together (me on rhythm mainly) learning the art of rock music. We decided to form a band, found the rest of the line up and, in the early 1990’s “Uncle Yuk” was born. Unfortunately due to all sorts of problems, we split just before our first gig. Other projects came and went and I began to experiment playing lead guitar.
In 2004, I ‘hit a wall’ as they say, not getting anywhere musically - just frustrated and stuck! I decided to go back to college to study music and gain a qualification in the subject that I love – I qualified in June this year!!  Soon I realised that playing Quo was what I wanted to do and that it would be a real possibility so I advertised for other “Quo-mad” guitarists and Barry answered!! Now my life is full of Quo - with Just Supposin' and teaching Quo & rock style guitar.

Darren Hilborn

Darren started drumming in the early 1980's at the age of 11 & played in a number of school bands and in school productions. In the late 1980's, he joined Brighton band "After All" and spent most of 1988 travelling around the south east & London playing gigs at many venues including the "Mean Fiddler" & the "Rock Garden" in London. The band also recorded a single, which was no. 1 in the Brighton charts and (apparently) no 108 in the national chart.

After the band split, darren played with folk band 'Touchstone' & drummed on their first album 'The Nght the snow came down' before leaving the band. After pursuing several dead end projects through the 1990's, Darren has spent the last 10 years playing with a local covers band. He has also recorded & performed several musicals for musical theratre groups including a couple of showcases in the West End and has featured on several CD's by local musicians.
