The word Denim has been derived from French words Serge de Nimes which refers to strong fabric. The jeans originated in seventeenth centaury from the city of Genoa in Italy where denim trousers were first made from the sturdy fabric of France to make clothes for sailors. The objective was to make dresses for sailors with a strong fabric which could survive in tough conditions of sailors working environment.
Through the decades long evolution of jeans, the popularity of jeans kept rising all the times. Many factors contributed in its fame including Hollywood movies in which many female characters have been shown wearing women denim jeans.
